I know, I know!! Late, late, late!! My muse has been kidnapped by Polyvore (<– hot-linked in case you want to see what I’ve been up to out there) and I had a hard time rescuing her to get this post out. But, I got her back and I’m ready to blog!
This post actually got its start about a week ago. And I’m not even sure it was my idea. I think there may have been a little divine intervention at work.
Let me explain…
Last Monday, I was out on Pinterest and got into some brief words with someone over a picture someone else had posted. This someone responded with “PERCEPTION IS REALITY!” Yes, she used all caps. Angry lady. Anyways, about 5 minutes later, I switched over to Twitter and just as I did, a tweet came up in my timeline that said “Perception is Reality!” No shouting involved in that one and it wasn’t directed at me but I still took notice because you just don’t see that phrase every day. Then a few hours later, I was watching a news program and the commentator said, “Blah, blah, blah, blah. Perception is reality. Blah, blah.”
I guess the Universe was trying to tell me something. I pondered on it for a few days and after several dead ends, it finally came to me. I was having a conversation with someone about designing greeting cards. I was talking about how the greeting card industry is tough to break into. I compared it to getting a novel published. Everyone and their brother (and sister and mother and best dog Spud) want to get published. I started to say that it’s almost an impossibility and it hit me.
Perception is reality.
Getting a book published or being successful in the greeting card industry is an impossibility…if I think it is. Our perception of reality creates that reality. It’s the Law of Attraction wearing a different name tag. I think I’ve touched on this in other posts but somehow everything always seems to come back to it.
I heard a description years ago that has stuck with me. Your life is like a flower garden and your thoughts are like the garden hose. Whatever you choose to water is what will grow. If you water the weeds, guess what? Weeds will grow.
Take a day and really listen to your statements and thoughts related to your life and your dreams. Or ask someone you spend a great deal of time with to do the listening and let you know any time you water a weed…you know, the can’ts, won’ts, buts… You might be surprised at how often you slip into negative territory. I know I was.
Thinking positively isn’t always easy. It would be nice if we could put on our magic glasses and effortlessly see the world as the world of our dreams…all green lights, open doors, sunny days and warm breezes. We do have tools at our disposal like meditation and vision-boarding which make focusing a little easier. And inspirations like music to get us in the right frame of mind. But sometimes it still takes a kick in the butt from the Universe to get us back on track.
I’m now passing that kick in the butt on to all of you. As well as a pair of snazzy magic glasses, just in case.
And until next time LiliBeaners, remember…it’s a wonderful world. You just have to believe it.
