Happy Saturday, LiliBeaners! It’s been a week filled with purging, packing and moving for me. Unfortunately, that means no time with my drawing tablet. But, fear not…I’ve still got something for you!
As I was packing up my office, I found a bunch of vision boards I’ve created over the years. The picture above shows just a few of my favorite pages. They are near and dear to my heart and I wanted to share them with you.
What’s a vision board, you ask? It’s basically a collage. And one of the greatest manifestation tools ever!
You’ve probably heard the concept that thoughts create reality. The belief here is that what you spend your time thinking about will eventually manifest. A vision board is a tangible image that helps you stay focused on the reality you want to create.
Say you’re feeling a little pinched in the pocketbook. Your thoughts are probably focused on your lack of funds even though you may not even realize it. Thinking about the bills that will be waiting in your mailbox when you get home. Thinking about how badly you need a vacation but you don’t have the money to go. Thinking about the car that needs a tune up, the dog who needs his shots, the weekly groceries, the monthly expenses… Ugh. It can be overwhelming. And counterproductive. You need something to steer your mind away from these thoughts. A vision board!
Create an image that is specific to your goal of manifesting more funds. A smiling person, a wallet overflowing with money, a million dollar check made out to you. These things will immediately make you focus on where you want to be. Include words or phrases like “I live abundantly”, “I attract money” or “Debt Free” and repeat them to yourself every time you look at your vision board. And every time you think about your vision board.
One thing to note: It’s important to keep your vision board in a place you will see it often. If you tuck it away in a hidden corner, that kind of defeats the purpose.
You’re probably thinking this is a load of woo-woo. Maybe it is. But it works. I can say this from personal experience.
I spent the better part of a decade in my last job waking up every morning and lamenting all the things I hated about it. Given my situation, I just couldn’t imagine a way out. Drawing on everything I knew about the power of the mind, I finally made a resolution to change my thought patterns.
I started visualizing every morning what life would be like without 70 hour work weeks, office politics and overwhelming stress. And I started creating vision board pages with words like Free and Joyful and including uplifting, carefree pictures. Can you guess what happened?
A few months later, my job was eliminated.
That’s the truth, cross my heart. You might call it coincidence. I call it manifesting in action! And while part of me was terrified, part of me was relieved and excited. I couldn’t have imagined how the pieces would fall into place if I had tried.
If you need some help focusing your thoughts, give vision boarding a try! It’s easy and it’s fun. Here’s my process:
1) The first thing I do is find something to use as the base of my vision board. I like to use scrapbooking albums or spiral bound journals with heavyweight pages. You could also use a piece of cardboard or even heavy cardstock paper.
2) Next I grab 5 or 6 magazines and go through them looking for pictures and words that I feel drawn to. My first pass through, I look only at the pictures. I cut out the ones that evoke the feelings that I imagine I will have when I manifest my goal. The second pass through, I look only at the words and cut out ones that are easily repeatable and relevant to my goal. Sometimes I will print off song lyrics. Or include stickers.
3) Once you have steps 1 and 2 done, it’s all about creating your collage. There’s no right or wrong way. Just make sure the image you create reminds you of your goal in a positive way.
See? Easy peasy! I hope you try it and I would love to hear all about your experience with it. In the meantime, I’m off to do more packing.
Until next time, Lilibeaners, happy manifesting…
