So long, 2011. Parting is bittersweet. It was a heart-wrenching year but it will always be the last year I got to spend with my mom. Not an easy chapter to close… But, close it must. And now it’s time to look forward to 2012!
That’s what inspired this picture. A new year always seems like the perfect time to reinvent our lives…turn over new leaves…kick our old selves to the curb!
My feeling on New Year’s resolutions is that if you’re going to make them, they should be fun and they should be bold. Last year, my resolution was to do this every morning:
Needless to say, when I realized dancing around on my bathroom sink would likely cause bodily injury to myself and/or the sink, I scrapped that pretty quickly.
Not to be deterred though, I’m taking another resolution out for a test drive! Ever hear the quote “It’s never too late to be what you might have been.” by George Eliot? Well, that’s my theme for 2012. Look out, World…I’m jumping out of The Rut!
No more waking up every day and doing too much of what I have to do and not enough of what I want to do. No more stumbling aimlessly down the road (unless it’s a been a multiple martini night, of course). No more boring, no more bland, no more blah…
After seeing my “Reinvent Yourself” picture, my friend Rob asked, “So the plan is to dye your hair, get a neck tattoo and become The Butterfly Ninja??” YES!! THAT’S the plan!!
Or something like that…
I think I need a theme song. Any ideas?
